Gonorrhea

GONORRHEA
Gonorrhea is a disease caused by a bacteria shaped like two kidney beans and known as ?Neisseria Gonorrhea?. From the time of contact until symptoms are seen, Gonorrhea is already infectious and can spread to others. The disease shows fre or no symptoms until later complications occur.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Urethral discharges; painful urination usually 3 to 7 days after sexual contact; swelling of testicles.

For Gonorrhea involving the anus and pharynx:
1. Blood and or mucus on stools, cramps, abdominal pain, itching of anus, pus or feeling of fullness and discomfort
2. Persistent sore throat in low area of pharynx.

PREVENTION
The community should help in dissemination of information on how to recognize gonorrhea and motivate patients to submit for continuous treatment.
